I absolutely love weddings that have a handmade feel to them. Little touches of the couple’s personality and hardwork. However this backyard DIY Wedding takes the cake. It was the most gorgeous outdoor, candlelit wedding I’ve ever witnessed. And when I say do it yourself wedding, I mean it! From gathering the old wood chairs and china from estate sales to cooking their own meal to serve their guests, this wedding was 100% a labor of love. I was so happy to document it for Rachelle & Cory!
This wedding was additionally unique because they chose to do a lot of things “backwards” compared to a typical wedding. They opted for a first look so we could capture some amazing bridal party pictures before heading to their reception. That’s right, their reception! After a lovely homemade dinner served on antique china plates we got ready for the wedding! The ceremony was to be held at sunset. Sadly, the weather had other plans. Instead of a sunset lit ceremony, it was raining. But you know what, it was beautiful! It might not have been what we were expecting but it was perfect in every way! And of course, following the ceremony everyone danced the night away… in the rain! A perfect wedding.
Congratulations you two!
